Ecclesiastes 11:4-5 (NLT) “Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. 5 Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.”
There’s a certain way that God designed everything in the universe to function. He set everything up according to the laws He’s ordained. This gives us an indication of the order in which He intends things to work. Take the process of sowing and reaping for instance, when a farmer places a seed in the ground, he doesn’t just leave it there and never tend to it again. If he is a skilled and experienced farmer, he knows the process of growth that God set up from the very beginning. He knows that the seed needs to be planted in good ground. This is ground that is rich with nutrients. He also knows that the seed will need plenty of sunlight and water to grow.
It is apparent that a seed needs the proper conditions in order to thrive, but we can never underestimate the potential that is contained within that little tiny seed. As long as it receives what it needs, it will produce what it is expected to produce.
A farmer knows the potential of a seed, and that planting it doesn’t require perfect weather. This can be said about your faith. You don’t need a perfect climate to plant a seed of faith. Some people will say, “I can’t tithe because I don’t have any extra money…” or “I can’t read the Word every day because my schedule is too packed.” These excuses do not speak to their potential, but rather their climates; and as we all know so well, climates change.
We have to get beyond weather patterns and know with certainty that God has guaranteed that we all have seed. We all have something that we can sow in faith. So you have seed no matter what the weather looks like—no matter what your circumstances are, or what condition you are in. It’s up to you to use what you have, and plant your seed on good fertile ground.
If you’re one of those people that sit back and wait for things to happen and fall in your lap, you might be waiting a mighty long time. You can’t be like the farmer waiting on the perfect weather to plant a seed. God is not the giver of imperfect gifts. All of His gifts are extraordinary! Faith is no exception. Faith works with a mathematical precision. When you plant a seed of faith, and mix it with continued prayer and action, Heavenly Father will shine His light upon it, water it, and the blessing you desire will absolutely manifest.
