Our God is Awesome and Amazing!

Newness is indeed upon us, this cannot be doubted. Lamentations 3:22-23(NLT) reminds us, “22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” These verses should ignite excitement in us every day. We ought to be enthused about what the Lord will do as the day unfolds minute by minute, because He loves surprising us with His wonders. He’s done some awesome things in your life in the past, but you ain’t seen nothing yet. This phase you’re approaching isn’t like anything you’ve experienced in the past, and as you prepare to usher it in, there are a few things that must be in place.

Most of us have a tendency to operate by constantly responding to external factors, and this leads to a hamster-wheel type of lifestyle where we’re constantly putting out fires. There’s very little inner reflection in this scenario, and this is where we run into complications. Self-awareness dictates that we’re hip to the fact that we’re spinning our wheels without making progress. Some of us have faced so much disappointment that we’re prepared for the worse all the time, and very seldom hopeful. We’re stuck in a pattern of drilling down on the negative, imagining negative outcomes. This can cause a lot of anxiety.

It’s hard for some of us to imagine the storehouse of treasures that are slated to come our way. Having gone through trials and tribulation for a long time, some of us feel exhausted on all fronts. I don’t need to tell you that the major struggle exists in our minds. Proverbs 23:7 tells us that our thoughts makeup the person we are. We may smile on the outside, but that doesn’t mean we’re all good on the inside. God looks at the heart of a person, because the heart tells the real story. It stands to reason then, that our hearts and minds must be seasoned with positive expectancy in order to prepare to receive.

Through the Apostle Peter, God warns us in 2Peter 3:17 to be on guard so that we won’t let twisted wicked people cause us to lose our footing. In verse 18, He tells us, “Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Our God is awesome and amazing! He’s equipped us for victory! We’re created by Him to progress and climb higher spiritually in faith! This has got to be our focus.

When we’ve spent a considerable amount of time in the rabbit hole of disappointment and sadness, it’s sometimes difficult to see the light. For a good portion of the day, some of us feel anxious and depressed, and we focus on how bad we feel. Of course the sad stuff that’s going on in the world can add to this. It may seem like a less compassionate statement to make, but we simply cannot internalize negativity of any kind, because it will paralyze us, and we can’t afford this. We must never lose sight of the reality that we have been called by God through the Lord Jesus Christ. We’ve got a Kingdom agenda. We’ve got stuff to do; a destiny to chase, a calling to fulfill.

As Christians, we’re not supposed to be cynical and skeptical, but the fear of getting our hopes dowsed is real, and that old self-preservation error message kicks in. It tells our brain that on top of everything else, we don’t need to be dealing with an extra heap of fallout from another disappointment. This is a message that translates doubt, and now is the time to recognize the pattern and put a stop to it. Look up, your help is here, and your victory is near.

Doubt is a blocker of blessings, and we don’t have time for it. God’s supernatural favor is upon us, and it is high time that we begin to walk in it. So many of us have been waiting on something to happen, something that will affirm who we are and solidify our authority in Christ. God’s Word has already done this! You are in an unprecedented season of God’s glory. Don’t let it pass you by. Reach up to heaven and pull down on its resources. The Lord Jesus Christ has given you access. You have his permission. Come into agreement with God’s provision and be released into His rich overflowing bounty now!■
