Spring is in the air, and this is a season marked by the newness that our God brings. All of us are anticipating what the Father will cause to blossom in our lives, and after the year we’ve had, it will be more than a delight. We do not know how precious we are to God, and how much He loves and desires to bless us. It’s in this lovely truth that we must cast our anchor and allow it to stay continually planted there. Our Father has no equal. He is in a totally unique position because He doesn’t have a competitor or anyone that comes close to who He is. The remarkable thing is that our glorious God has handpicked us to be His very own. In Isaiah 43:19(NLT), He told His people living in Old Testament times, “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?” You and I would do well to take notice of what God told them. He’s the same God today that He was back then. He is going to do something new in our lives, and we must be diligent to get prepared for all that He has in store.
Don’t forget who God is
God declares of Himself in Revelation 22:13(NLT), “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” Our God is sovereign and has all power in His hands. He can do anything He desires, but 1John 4:8 tells us that He is love, and He will not go against Himself. Love is His nature, and He does only those things that are in accordance with His nature of love. God has an agenda, and it is to spread His love to as many that will accept it through Jesus Christ. He accomplishes this through us, His sons and daughters.
We are always to keep God’s agenda at the forefront of our minds and hearts, particularly in the world in which we’re now living. It should be also clear to us that the world has an agenda too, and it is completely opposite of God’s agenda. 1Corinithians 7:23(NLT) instructs us, “God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world.” We are in the world, but we should not be of it. We should not be enslaved by its agenda and let it move us away from the mind of Christ.
The enemy has tried to corrupt the hearts and minds of many people and flip what God says is wrong into being right and what He says is right into being wrong. The world has adopted this agenda and tries to bombard us with it. If we’re not careful, we can allow it to seep into our minds and hearts, and slowly, we begin to abandon the Word that we know. These subtle changes can begin to grow and morph into an unGodly lifestyle.
Heavenly Father commands us in Romans 12:2(NKJV), “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” We can’t allow ourselves to become conformed to the world. This is an incredibly crucial time in our walk with Christ, and we can’t afford to get sidetracked by the world’s agenda. God is so good and compassionate towards us, and we must remember that there is no other like Him. Proverbs 19:21 tells us that His purpose will prevail, and we need to remain on the path of His plan for our lives.
Remain hopeful
Throughout God’s Word, there are numerous examples of individuals that began to take God’s favor and blessings for granted. Instead of sticking to God’s plan for their lives and obeying His Word, they started making plans of their own. Consumed with thoughts of being too talented, intelligent, or special, they refused to be disciplined to God’s call and were enticed by the shiny object the devil placed in their view. It’s a scenario that’s as old as Adam and Eve, and we’re still falling for the devil’s tricks. Whenever people step outside of God’s Will, there is always a price to be paid. There’s no covering outside of God’s Will, and the enemy seizes this opportunity to pounce on us.
Whenever and wherever we see people being bamboozled by the devil and adopting an attitude of arrogance, we must call it what it is. We must never blame God, but we must pray to Him and seek His forgiveness; not just for ourselves but for everyone. We shouldn’t allow the devil’s trickery to cause us to lose hope, because our God is the One who rescues us. Psalm 34:17-18(NLT) tells us, “17 The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. 18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
Many people have allowed their hopes to be dashed, but our hopes are only diminished when they are not firmly anchored in God through the Lord Jesus Christ. We must remember that fire doesn’t destroy gold, but it reveals it! Our faith is far more superior than metal, it reveals who God has made us through the glory of Christ, who lives within us. Don’t allow the old mindset to keep you focused on what is behind. Focus your hope on what is ahead!
We are not defined by our circumstances, and we must not allow our hope to be dictated by what our eyes see. 1Peter 1:21 reminds us that our faith and hope must be in God because He raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. God’s power has no equal. Our victory in Christ is real! Take your faith and hope in Christ to a new level. Let your conviction in the goodness of God be lasting and enduring, and you’ll see the newness He brings beautifully unfold before your eyes.■
