He Will Do It for You

Often in our lives, we do not take our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at his Word. When it comes to our desires to partner with a wonderful spouse, we pray about it, give it over to him, but then we’re very quick to take it back. A lot of us are confident in the Lord’s power. Jesus Christ teaches us in Luke 1:37(NLT), For nothing is impossible with God.” This verse means that the Word of God will never fail, and we understand this, but we sometimes struggle with believing what God will do for us personally in the area of marriage. “I know He can do it, but will He do it for me?” This is the question that many of us are contemplating today.

1John 5:14-15 (NLT) is another extremely important verse that will help to increase our faith in God. It says, “14 And we can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. 15 And if we know he is listening when we make our requests, we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for.” As workers of God’s Word, we can’t approach a delicious passage like this without digesting it piece by yummy piece. First, it is very important that we understand the reality that God’s Word is God’s Will. His Will is His Word, and He doesn’t do anything outside of His Word. This inspires and builds our confidence in the promises that He makes to us in His Word.

God blesses the Word He has spoken in the scriptures. When we understand this, we understand a whole lot about obedience. Said another way, God’s Word carries within it the life and power of His being, and when we obey what He has spoken, the blessing of His Word is transferred to us.

Ephesians 1:11(NIV) tells us, In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.” This verse tells us that God has made us heirs to His inheritance, and He predestined this long before we entered our mother’s wombs. God in His infinite intelligence and power has already worked our every single detail and aspect of creation and eternity. He’s already figured all this out, and every ‘i’ is dotted, and every ‘t’ is crossed according to the purpose He has set forth in His Word, for His Word is His Will.

Know His Will for you

Jesus Christ tells us in 1John 5:14 that we can have confidence that God listens to us when we ask for things that are in line with His Will. Contained within this is the commandment of Christ to know God’s Will. We cannot rise above or walk in something that we do not know. We must take the time to seek the Will of God for our lives and know what He has promised in His Word. Only then can we proceed in faith.

If we know that God is listening to us when we ask anything according to His Will, then we should also be listening to Him when He gives us instruction and direction on how to receive. With anything that we undertake, if we want to do it masterfully, there are going to be instructions we’re required to follow. You’d be hard pressed to find any great move of God in His Word without His people first receiving His directions. These were very often things that the people had to do to back their believing. James 2:26(NLT) tells us, Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.”

“Good works” are two very important words to any single person looking to cross paths with the person God has ordained to walk with them through life. In Hebrews 11:6, God tells us that it is impossible to please Him without faith, and we see from James 2:26 that faith must be backed up with good works. Hebrews 11:6 goes on to tell us that we must believe unequivocally that God exists and that He, GOD, is a Rewarder to those that diligently seek Him.

God is a Rewarder! He is a Compensator. We look at our employers as the chief compensators in our lives, but God is the greatest compensator of all eternity. He pays us for all our good efforts towards His Kingdom. He rewards us! And no good deed goes unrewarded. Hebrews 6:10(NLT) states, “For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.”

As singles, some of us have not yet devoted ourselves to doing anything on a grand scale for any individual other than ourselves. We don’t have any fruit and haven’t brought anyone into the faith and nurtured them, yet we expect that God will compensate us for works undone. This is a violation of God’s Law of Giving equals Receiving. Jesus Christ said in Luke 6:38(NLT), “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

This verse cements the reality that when we’re sharing God’s Word and being of service to His people, blessings will be heaped upon us in proportion to what and how we’ve given to others. This was the reality of the disciples that walked with Christ, and their diligence to his example was the backdrop in which he made this declaration of God’s generosity. It’s not a ‘kid in a candy store’ mentality. It’s a recognition that to whom much is given, much is required. Its understanding that God backs His Word with bountiful blessings when we follow it in the way He requires.

Servitude, service to others with the heart of Christ, is the key that opens the door of God’s blessings. Over the years, we’ve talked a lot about God’s Law of Giving equals Receiving. Many people ignore this law or grossly underestimate God’s allegiance to it. If they’ll look back over their lives, they will see that ignoring it causes us to live beneath our privilege. We need to realize that getting people saved and showing them His love are God’s highest priority in the earth, and He has commissioned us to engage this mission. We may be asking Him, “Father, Will You do it for me?” His answer is “Yes, of course, but when it comes to the call that I have placed on your life, will YOU do it for Me?” We must realize that saying “yes” to God is welcoming His blessings, and it is also a declaration of our commitment to do everything we possibly can to please Him and fulfill His call through the example of Jesus Christ.■
