We often hear the phrase “resurrection power” in sermons, songs, and Christian conversations. But do we truly grasp what it means? It’s more than a description of God’s power—it’s a reality so rich that it covers every detail of life. We are where we are today because Jesus Christ did not stay in the grave. God raised Him up from the dead with all power in His hands! That same resurrection power is the unstoppable, unmatched force that broke the grip of death and made it possible for every believer to walk in newness of life. It’s not just something that happened over 2,000 years ago—it’s the reason we can still believe for breakthrough today.
In these modern times, many people are all about trying to live like celebrities, wanting fame and fortune. But we need to be clear—that way of life doesn’t scratch the surface of what God has made available through Christ. Jesus didn’t come to earth to build a fanbase or start a social movement. He came on assignment from our Heavenly Father that was an eternal mission driven by God’s great love. John 3:16 (NLT) tells us, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus knew the cross was part of the journey, but He chose to walk it anyway. His entire life pointed to one moment: the sacrifice that would open the door to salvation for all who would believe.
We are reminded not only of His free will choice, but also of His unwavering devotion to God’s mission in John 10:18 (NLT): “No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.” He willingly surrendered His life for our sakes. This is real love—the kind that created the universe and infused everything in it with the life of our Savior’s love.
Before the resurrection, there was a brutal cost. Jesus took on the fullness of our sin—not just the obvious mistakes we make in life, but we’re talking about darkness that is rotten to the core. The hidden shame, the secret struggles, and the unspeakable stuff that’s too horrible to utter—He carried all of it to the cross. Isaiah 53:5, (NLT) reminds us, “He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” His death was vicious. The brutality of His beating and the unprecedented agony of His pain was real. He endured it all for our brokenness, suffering a cruelty and humiliation that none of us could bear. When our sinless Savior became sin for us, something eternal shifted. For the first time, the perfect unity of the Trinity felt the sting of separation as the weight of sin fell on Jesus’ shoulders. The price they paid is beyond our compensation, and to think—God did it all for us.
If we lived ten million lifetimes and spent every moment thanking God for what He’s done through Christ, it still wouldn’t come close to being enough. The gift of eternal life is just that enormous. We can’t beat God’s giving, but through our gratitude, our obedience, and our daily walk, we should live like we’re trying. That’s the least we can do. Because the cross wasn’t just about death—it was about making a way for life. And not just any kind of life. Jesus came to give us a more than abundantone.
And the proof that God’s plan was more incredible than anyone could have imagined? The resurrection. That was the moment that changed everything for us. The grave couldn’t hold our Redeemer. Sin couldn’t stain Him. Death couldn’t stop Him. As exclaimed in Matthew 28:6 (NLT), “He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen.” That’s the moment hell lost its grip. That’s when every word Jesus spoke was confirmed as truth. The resurrection isn’t just the end of a story—it’s the beginning of a new one—a new covenant that Jesus Christ ushered in between us and God. This is a victory where death no longer has the final say.
God’s resurrection power is extremely personal to us, because that same power that raised Christ from the dead is not reserved for heaven only—it lives in us. Romans 8:11 (NLT) tells us, “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.” That means you don’t have to live stuck, bound, or hopeless. God’s resurrection power brings life to what seems dead—dreams, marriages, callings, even faith that’s been on life support. There’s nothing too far gone for Him to revive.
The resurrection is a powerful event in history, there’s no doubt about that, but it is infinitely more. God raised Jesus from the dead, and His beloved Son pulled us out of darkness. He has shown us what victory looks like, and through the indwelling Holy Spirit that He made available, we are empowered to live differently. You may feel like life has buried you, but God’s power is calling you to rise. Every day is a fresh opportunity to walk in that power—to choose faith, to forgive, to start again, to live with boldness and purpose.
As we celebrate our Savior’s resurrection, let it be more than a moment of reflection—make it a response. Commit your life to walking with God and nurturing your relationship with Him. Let the resurrection shape how you live, how you hope, and how you trust. Because our Savior lives, you don’t have to settle for survival—you can walk in resurrection power! The stone was rolled away so that our precious Lord and Savior could walk out, and so that we could live in Him eternally. Glory to God for His incomparable resurrection power! ■
