God is up to something good in your life, on this you can most assuredly depend. One of the greatest things that you and I can do with our time is to seek Him until we understand exactly what He has in mind. The truth is that sometimes we just don’t know what He has in store. It isn’t that God is trying to keep things a secret from us. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 7:7 (NKJV) “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Notice that asking, seeking, and knocking all require us to place ourselves in a position of expectation. If you ask a question, you expect it to be answered. If you seek, you expect to find something, and hardly anyone will knock unless they expect the door to be opened. So, the first piece of incredibly helpful insight is that God designed the blueprints to our goodies to unfold as our expectation and desire deepens.
#2 Follow the Map
Never underestimate the spiritual process you engage when you set your intention to follow God’s map. His Word is our road map for life. Through it you and I discover how to live a life that is pleasing to God and fulfilling to us as well. Are you living a fulfilling life? If you aren’t, you need to know that this is on God’s agenda! How can we be persuasive ambassadors if our lives are not blessed with the goodies of the Kingdom? If God hasn’t done it for us, how can we convince someone that He’ll do it for them? In God’s Word, He maps out a path that leads to His goodies. It is a spiritual path; therefore, we must understand that God’s Word is going to teach us how to think, speak, behave, and act like Jesus Christ, because he is the way to remain on the right path. Every time that you feed your soul with God’s Word, you are setting yourself up for something supernatural to be revealed to you.
#3 Don’t Limit Him
The heart and mind are the gateways to the soul. The heart is the feeling center, and the mind is the thinking center. They receive information, and it is either discarded or downloaded to your soul based on your free-will decision to accept or reject it. The Holy Spirit within knows the goodies that God has in store for you. He knows the path to them, but when your downloads are contrary to the Spirit, they will cause you to veer off the path that God has mapped out for your life. You become blinded and sidelined. God will work within us to will and do of His good pleasure, but we limit His work by closing our eyes to the reality that God is guiding us to greater goodness. Christ is our Shepherd, and we must have a heart to follow after him.
#4 Patience is a Must!
Heavenly Father isn’t withholding our goodies, but He has designed the universe to reward us when we are in alignment. What does this mean? We hear a lot of talk these days about being in balance, and a lot of folks don’t understand it or relegate it to New Age talk. People fear what they don’t understand, but everyone ought to be able to comprehend order. Our Heavenly Father is a God of divine order. He’s consistent and faithful to the laws that He has instituted for the universe. It isn’t too farfetched to conclude that He designed everything in the universe to be in balance, and that balance, harmony, and alignment is achieved when we walk and operate according to His laws. Disharmony and imbalance is the result of not aligning ourselves with God’s laws.
Jesus Christ gave us the perfect example of balance in Luke 6:38 (NLT), when he said, “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” Giving and receiving…sowing and reaping; this isn’t rocket science, but so many of us overlook this phenomenally important law. When we take more than what we give out, the end result is that we veer off the path, because we’re out of balance.
You and I are not capable of tracking the spiritual economy of our giving and receiving. Heavenly Father takes care of it, and blesses us in a way that keeps us in balance. This is one of the reasons why it is important to patiently wait. The blessing will come, and God will make sure it arrives right on time.
#5 Don’t Fall Behind!
The indwelling Holy Spirit will guide us to infinite possibilities through the Lord Jesus Christ. He will also let us know when we’re running the risk of falling behind schedule. Little hiccups catch us off guard. Yes, they are darts of the enemy, but they are also signals that we’re either headed in the opposite direction of where we need to be, or we’re not on track with an arrival that is based on destiny’s time-clock.
If you truly expect God to shower your life in His goodness, and to reward you with blessings that fulfill you, you must also expect that He’ll warn you before you fall behind. Often our eyes are closed to these warnings, but as we pray about it, and ask God to show us where or how we might be slipping, He will.
James 2:26 tells us that faith without works is dead. It is effective and active with the energy of action pushing it forward. Your eyes will not come across the opportunity you seek if you stand still. So, it is uniformly purposeful that God designed the universe to reveal His goodies as our effort to ask, seek, and knock are steeped in our confident expectation and desire to receive. Deep calls to deep. When you live and operate by God’s map—make it your go-to for everything, you then make a habit pattern of setting your heart, mind, and soul in alignment with the indwelling Holy Spirit. You will build a momentum of activity that you cannot see in the flesh. So be diligent, patient, and have faith that your work is not in vain. In due season, the harvest will come and the goodies from God that you desire most will overtake your life.■
