God’s Confidence, Our Calling

Life has a way of shaking our confidence. Somewhere along the way—through heartbreak, disappointment, or even childhood pain—we can start to forget who we are and whose we are. But God’s confidence was never taken from us; it’s still inside, waiting to rise again. The truth is, we don’t need to find confidence—we just need to rediscover the pathway that leads us back to it, the one that begins and ends in Jesus Christ.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) reminds us, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” Our God is strong. He’s fearless, and He is confident beyond our definition of the word. And because we are made in His image, that same confidence is meant to flow through us. Jesus showed us exactly how to live this out — bold in love, steady in faith, and secure in God’s promises.

The enemy wants us to believe the opposite—to live small, scared, and unsure. He feeds on fear, planting doubt in places where God has already spoken victory. That’s how insecurity grows: not because God’s truth isn’t powerful, but because we stop standing on it. When we step away from what God said, we hand the enemy the microphone and let lies run the show.

But God’s Word calls us higher. It tells us to fight back with faith and courage. 1 Corinthians 16:13 (NLT) says, “Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.” And Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) reminds us, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

God’s presence is your confidence. His Word is your defense. You don’t have to crumble under pressure or question your worth. Stand firm. Be brave. And let your faith speak louder than fear.

When insecurity whispers that we aren’t enough, we must remember: it’s not about our strength or ability. It’s about leaning into Jesus Christ, the One who conquered fear, shame, and death itself. In Him, we are already equipped to walk boldly. We can love fully and stand firm no matter what comes.

Romans 8:29 (NLT) says, “For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” When we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we were invited to share in His life — to live with His courage, joy, and confidence flowing in us. And Ephesians 5:1–2 (NLT) reminds us, “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.”

Confidence doesn’t come from trying harder or pretending to be fearless. It comes from looking to Jesus—the One who never wavers. When our eyes are fixed on Him, His strength becomes our steady place. His voice silences the noise of doubt, and His love settles the anxious parts of our hearts.

So when fear or insecurity tries to creep back in, don’t entertain it. Speak God’s Word. Stand on His promises. Lean into His strength instead of your own. And watch how Jesus shows you, in real and undeniable ways, that you’re already strong, already courageous, and already equipped in Him. ■
