I read a social media post the other day of a married couple and they said, “now is the time to have someone that you love close.” While the world is battling to stay indoors during this pandemic, many single Christians are at home today, and they are feeling isolated and alone. So, if you think this couple’s sentiment is outside your reality, the restrictions of the pandemic may be causing you to feel even more saddened. No matter what situation or challenge we face in life, it is important to remember there are always two sides to every situation. With God, we must always and forever choose the side of hope rather than doubt.

Getting married may continue to be the most prayed prayer for many single women. While some are crying out to God with urgency, others believe their hope of marriage is diminishing. We become disappointed because many of us have convinced ourselves that we’ve done all we can do to receive the blessing of marriage, and we think we can’t do anything more. The reality is that wherever we are in our spiritual walk with Christ, God demands that we go further. We must always grow in the Lord, and this growth is going to require us to increase in faith.

Hebrews 11:1(NLT) tells us, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” Faith is the title deed to the thing we’re praying for even before it shows up. Both our minds and our hearts must be fully persuaded to match the criteria of believing that amounts to faith. From this, we can know that faith means we are so convinced of what God is going to give us that we simply have no doubt when it comes to the subject. We know it beyond knowing. We know it to the point that we’re excited in the right now of this moment. And to fuel this excitement, we’re taking steps to spiritually prepare.

James 2:26 (NLT) says, “Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.” Our faith is a response to God. It is how we relate to Him, by believing in His overwhelming goodness, power, and love. And believing not only engages our minds in how we think and our hearts in how we feel; it also engages our energy and effort. Faith isn’t about us doing our own thing. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. This is where we see the power of Heavenly Father manifest, because God will always bless, increase, and magnify His Word.

Faith is a requirement to see change come to pass in our lives. Yes, we should have faith in ourselves, but the most important thing is for us to have faith in God. He backs His Word! He told His people in Jeremiah 33:3(NKJV), “‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’” We rely on our workplaces to pay us, our government to withhold the institutions we count on, and we rely on those we love to continue to support and care for us. We place our trust in all of these. When it comes to God, He is deserving of so much more. We must have a fully persuaded belief that He is both willing and able to bless us.

Psalm 84:11(NLT) tells us, “For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” God never withholds blessings from His children when they are motivated in their hearts to please Him. So, we have to make sure that we keep on thinking what is right, speaking what is right, and doing what is right. We must back our faith with good works that reflect our trust in God. Matthew 6:8 (NLT) tells us, “For your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!” God knows our needs and He sees everything we do. He will guide us to partner in marriage if we will humble ourselves, do what He asks, and have faith that He will bless us according to His Word. ■
