It’s Hard, But Praise Him Anyway

Faith Over Feelings

Why do people say, “It’s hard… but praise Him anyway”? Because real life will pull you in every direction. It’ll make you feel every feeling you didn’t even know you had. Sorrow hits and the tears come before you can stop them. Joy bubbles up and your whole face opens. Anger rises and the words fly faster than wisdom. That’s the reality of being human. But God never intended for our emotions to be the steering wheel of our lives. He designed us to be led by faith — by the part of us that hears Him, trusts Him, and stands even when we feel shaky inside.

Praise Belongs to God in Every Season

And if heaven is teaching us to respond by faith, it means something deeper than we admit: no matter what our flesh is screaming… praise still belongs to God. Praise when you’re smiling. Praise when your chest feels tight and heavy. Praise when you’re tempted to shut down and disappear. Why? Because deep down in the spirit — the part of you that’s already aligned with God — you know the truth. Romans 8:28 (NLT) tells us that “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.” Your emotions might not see it yet, but your spirit knows it already.

Psalm 34:1 (NLT) says, “I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.” That’s not surface-level faith. That’s choosing truth over how the situation or condition feels. Praise isn’t rooted in mood — it’s rooted in the unchanging character of God.

God Is Still Good in Hard Seasons

And God knows how quickly the enemy tries to slip into the cracks of a weary soul. This is why 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT) tells us, “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” Hard seasons make us question what we know. Loss makes us wonder if God is still good. Delays make us feel forgotten. But the Word cuts through the fog: “God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all” (1 John 1:5 NLT). If there’s darkness in the situation, it didn’t come from Him, and this should bring comfort to our hearts. God is forever and always on our side.

Staying Rooted When the Storm Is Loud

This is why we have to stay rooted and stay in the Word. You have to know what God said so you can shut down every lie the enemy tries to plant. When your mind starts drifting, speak the Word right back into your ears — because faith comes by hearing. Sometimes you have to preach to your own soul, out loud, until your spirit rises and your soul remembers who’s really in charge.

Praise Him Anyway — the Victory Is Already Won

So don’t let the storm silence your praise. Don’t let the hardship convince you that God stepped away. He hasn’t. He promised never to leave you or forsake you. He’s holding you steady when you feel like slipping. And He will carry you through what feels impossible.

So go on and praise Him anyway — because the victory was secured long before the problem showed up. Jesus already won it for you on the cross. And no weapon formed against you will prosper. Not today, not ever. ■
