The Truth of God’s Plan for the Earth

God tells us in Isaiah 55:9(NKJV), “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Our Heavenly Father doesn’t want His children to be ignorant regarding His nature, wisdom, power, and love. In Isaiah 55:9, He makes it clear that the scope of human knowledge and understanding cannot touch the intellect of our God. His thoughts are infinitely higher than ours, but the world does not accept this truth. The arrogance of human beings is notoriously documented in His Word. Sadly, this arrogance has grown exponentially, so much so that many modern scientist and scholars believe their wisdom to be superior to God’s. As the fulfillment of His promise approaches, we must make sure that this kind of arrogance doesn’t infiltrate our hearts, especially when it comes to honoring our relationship with God.

Our Heavenly Father has commanded us to look forward to our future with Him in faith. Despite what is happening in the world around us, God is moving in unimaginable and powerful ways. He wants us to pay very close attention to the promises and prophecies that He’s placed in His Word because they are coming to pass before our very eyes.

There are many distractions in our world, many things that are designed by the devil to take our attention off our relationship with God and put it on what he, the devil, is doing. Regarding the current state of the world, I’ve heard it said numerous times that the devil is busy, well this is an understatement. The masses are being blinded by the adversary, and many people are allowing themselves to be used by him to distort God’s truth. Our Heavenly Father has promised the return of Christ in His Word. However, those that are ignorant of His Word are trying to convince people that there is no judgment, and everything is just going to continue operating much the way it is. They deny the reality of the flood in the days of Noah, and they say that nothing happened in the past and nothing will happen in the future. This is a lie, and as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we must be ever so careful not to let what they are saying into our heads and hearts.

2Peter 3:8(NLT) states, “But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.” Our Heavenly Father doesn’t want His children to be ignorant regarding His nature, power, wisdom, and love. He wants us to know about His plan for the earth. This world is moving toward another judgment, and God has not kept this a secret, but tells us so in His Word. People of the world have coined those that believe what God has said about the coming of Christ as fanatical, but this is to be expected. In 2Peter 3:8, God has given us this extremely important comparison of the way He looks at time against how we look at time so that we’d understand His power, intellect, and the patterns He’s placed in His Word for our benefit. Understanding this comparison makes it clear that we are living in the third day, which is symbolic of God’s resurrection power, and just as Christ got up on that third day, he is soon to appear.

God is not limited by the span of our 24 hours a day. He’s not bound by time in the way that we are. We must remember this, and we must also remember that there is infinitely more to God’s magnificence than we can ever fully comprehend. Our exploration of His wonder will never end. Trying to limit the immeasurable awesomeness of God’s power and confine it to a span of 24 hours in a day seems almost absurd when you think about it. He has separated the day from night for our benefit. It speaks to His brilliance in setting up our days this way.

He has given us the concept of ‘time passing’ so that we’ll have an instrument of measuring His goodness and faithfulness during our sojourn on earth. It’s all about our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Time is our way to mark the events that impact His plan for the entire universe. It was important to Him that we not only understand the prophecies and markers for particular events, but that we also have it in our hearts to look forward to their occurrence in the future.

The rapture is one such event, and we are commanded by Christ to keep our eyes on it continually. 2Peter 3:9(NLT) tells us, “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” God is not using scare tactics. He is telling us the truth of His plan for the earth. We are to keep our eyes glued to Him and what He is doing, especially during the times in which we are now living. We’re to speak His Word to others and pray for them so that they might be saved and raptured with the Lord Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 24:37-39(NLT), Jesus Christ gives us the markers for the rapture. He said, “37 When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. 38 In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. 39 People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.” No one can argue the fact that this is the backdrop of our current times. The evil in the hearts of many people has reached an unimaginable level, but God warned us that it would be so. The extreme level of darkness in the environment in which we’re now living cannot be ignored.

The life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ have guaranteed for all generations the promise of God’s mercy. 1Thesalonians 4:16-18(NLT) states, “16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words.” Be assured that the judgment of God is upon us and He will not allow sin to prevail. He has been exceedingly merciful, but His Word will go forth just as He has promised. As the times become even more perilous, He has promised to protect and shield us, but we must be attentive to His Word and do all we can to honor our relationship with God. ■
